The academic year is divided into 3 trimesters: fall term, spring term and summer term. The fall term lasts approximately from the end of September to mid-February. The spring term lasts roughly from mid-February to mid-June. The summer term lasts from mid-June to the end September. Each semester has a lecture period (first 12 weeks) in which students attend lectures (The lecture period of the fall term hence ends before the Christmas break.) The spring and fall terms have also a 6-week-long exam period for which there are no more lectures as students will be preparing for the exams and working on their papers. (Lectures in the summer term are not delivered in a weekly regime and the term does not have an extra exam period.)

If you need a visa to get to the Czech Republic, here is the general information.
In short, this is how you should proceed:
After you receive a Letter of Acceptance from CEVRO Institute and a Confirmation of Accommodation (sent directly to the Czech Embassy in your country of origin) you can start your visa application process for a student visa at the Czech Embassy or Czech Consulate in your country of origin.
There are two types of student visas:
- short term (up to 90 days), and
- long term (more than 90 days).
Applications for both short term and long term visa must be submitted at the Czech Embassy or Czech Consulate in your country of origin.
(The short term visa is issued by the Czech Embassy or Czech Consulate in your country of origin and takes only 10 days to be processed. The long term student visa is issued by the Czech Ministry of Interior and takes up to 60 days to be processed.)
For a student visa application you must have the following documents:
- A valid passport.
- A Letter of Acceptance supplied by our university.
- A Financial Agreement or written Confirmation that you are a beneficiary of study/research grant. You may need an official confirmation from your bank with a statement that you have sufficient financial means on your account to fund your stay and you studies in the Czech Republic.
- A Confirmation of Accommodation
- A valid international health insurance (We encourage you to use our partner insurance company and an easy-to-use on-line form.)
- A Certificate of absence of criminal records from your country of origin (this document is compulsory and must be translated into Czech by a translator with an official stamp).

It applies to the following countries of origin: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Serbia, India, China, Pakistan, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia and Peru.
IMPORTANT NOTE
There is no chance to get a visa ad hoc, after your arrival in the Czech Republic!
Living in Prague is fun and relatively inexpensive. (Here is a nice page giving you an idea about living costs.) There are many options where to stay. Students of the CEVRO Institute may use all dorms in a pool of accommodation facilities in Prague, which is owned by Prague universities and open for all university students. Students may also wish to arrange their own housing in Prague through many commercial agencies.
CEVRO Institute has a partnership with Student Room Flat Agency. If you provide a reference code: CEVROSRF, you shall get 10 % discount.
CEVRO Institute also recommends ApartmanStudent, DC Rezidence, and FiftyFive for students housing needs. All agencies provide all necessary housing documents needed for visa application.
Or try MyFlatShare. Housing is not provided directly, but you may use their website to search for available flats, and even offer a room if you’re looking for a flatmate.
